Shattered Dreams
I took part in a domestic competition to select Korean representatives for young creator competitions at global creative festivals. The mission was to create a film campaign for Amnesty International to stop racism. As I thought most teams would deal with discrimination issues based on skin colors, to differentiate our idea from others, I wanted to show the unseen discrimination that occurs in today’s society. In the process of research, I found that certain people are discriminated by their ethnic names in the job market and I decided to address this issue as the main theme of the campaign.
I filmed the process in which résumés are constantly shredded by a paper shredder, and used a visual effect to highlight people's names and make it seem like a typography, not résumés are being shredded. With a copyline in the latter part of the film, it is revealed that these are their names written on résumés. This film campaign ranked second in the domestic competition and, as a Korean representative, I was able to participate in the Young Spikes competition of Spikes Asia 2019 in Singapore.
